OTP Manager App Reviews

11 Customer Reviews:

Great and simple app (well simple too use cause I guess it’s not that simple inside :) ). Works fine ! Now I have my codes both on my phone (with Google Authenticator) and my mac (thanks to this app). Well done !

Exatly what I needed.

Got it. does exatly what described and I’ve had no issue.

Convenient app for avoiding having to pull out my phone for two-factor authentication! Smartly stores OTP seeds in OS X keychain, too, which is better than I expected! It has an unfortunate penchant for expiring the tokens without displaying new ones, though, leaving the statusbar menu gray for a short time. If this didn’t happen, it’d be pretty much perfect.

What can I say…it works.

Beats running to my phone everytime I need a code!

incredibly handy app. i started to try figure out how to provide feedback today that it’d be helpful to be able to copy/paste codes close to the timeout and quickly found that the option i wanted is already available in the settings. very well designed and functional. top to bottom.

Works well, except...

It works well and does what I need except that if I drag the window from one screen to another it crashes.

Reviewws looked good, so I downloaded it, but Amazon requires the App have either the ability to scan a bar code or manually input a code - this has neither as far as I can tell from the HELP screen.

Longshot323 · 10 years ago

Works as expected. The “Copy” menu option is nice. One feature that would be handy is to have an option (Preference?) for the “Copy” menu to append a “return” after the code, for a slightly more streamlined: “Copy + Switch app + Paste” instead of “Copy + Switch App + Paste + Return"

I was happy to see that this version was supposed to add the ability to remember the position and layout on the screen, except that it doesn’t work. No matter where I place it, the next time it opens right in the middle of the screen which in my case is always obscured by the VPN app which is requesting the code, so I have to move it every time. Very annoying. Other than that, it’s pretty solid.

Would be nice if there was a setting not to display the icon in the menu bar I have a keyboard shortcut to open OTP manager window, so no need to use unwanted space in the menu bar

Dreg2000 · 10 years ago

I use many different software tools in my role at a large tech firm. They all require two-factor login so I am constantly using this tool. Rather than having to open the window, it would be great if the code just appeared in the menu bar, or in some less obtrusive area. I love that I can hide the dock icon, and at least the OTP window remembers where it is supposed to sit when I open it, preventing me from having to constantly reposition it. I would like to thank the developer for the work put into this simple utility that has made an impact on my ability to stay productive.

Horrible with no support

This no longer adds accounts with otpm files or QR but displays a green check and hangs there on the camera view. This app appears to no longer be supported by the developer.

How do I get rid of his APP, it is useless? Total waste of money and signing up for.

Very frustrating!

That is how I describe this app. I wish that I would have read the reviews before purchasing and downloading this app. I got it for one of two ways (required by login.gov) to get a 2 factor ID code to successfully login to my social security account. I spent a whole afternoon googling for user instructions for the app and still couldn’t figure it out. Maybe someone who is a coder or IT can figure it out, I certainly can’t.

No Instructions Makes It Useless

There is nothing in the FAQ about how to set up tokens and when I searched online I could find no YouTube videos to walk me through it. The only text instructions I could find was from a university in Japan. At one point it wants me to scan a QR code...so how does that happen on a laptop? I need this for exactly ONE thing...the new method for accessing a Social Security account online. Well if someone who has a master's degree in computer science and has been involved in computer and network design for four decades can't figure it out, good luck for anyone who is computer illiterate.

bad site

I tried to use this and it said it needed my credit card information. I never give that to an unknown app. So, I don't trust this app.

Doesn’t open on Sequoia 15.1

Guys, could you please, fix - it stopped working (the app doesn’t load) after upgrading to Sequoia 15.1. Already tried reinstalling - didn’t work. Thank you!

Say what?

This app badly needs an introduction rather than a jumbled set of instructions and terms that I’m not familiar with. What is OTP used for??

mred2521 · 1 year ago

No support and no protection

Tried to use the app in setting up a new government account; as soon as I entered the code given by the government organization, numbers started scrolling continuously, which is generally a concern. I had to cancel the online account, delete the app, hope that nobody has hacked into my info and, through all of this, I have had absolutely no response to the email request for assistance that I sent 3 days ago.

terrible app

this is a terrible app they write the instructions in some sort of code only they understand and not for the end user... waste of space

Nice syncing but adding tokens via iPhone is broken

Overall, this does what it claims to do. However, adding tokens via the iPhone just continues to replaces the existing token. Adding them via the desktop worked great and then synced (via iCloud) to my phone and watch. This was the main need - to get it easily to the phone and watch. Interfact is workable and not very cluttered. Over all I give it a good rating but it does need some work.

Too complex

One of two required authentication apps for MAC OS to use with Login.GOV THis is not user friendly

This is impossible to use

This is impossible to use. It's all in computer-speak. I'm not computer illiterate but this is too difficult to figure out. The glossary does not help. The QRC code doesn't work. I down-loaded the OTP Manager and I still don't know what to do. I do not believe that every trusted traveller in the U.S. can use this system.

abldg · 4 years ago

Too much work! Too much time; TMI. !

And how did I get here? All I wanted to do was sign into my Social Security account but now it’s all one government account. So why do I have to download yet another app on my crowded iPhone. I understand the purpose of having a secure account but figuring out this new app is too time consuming. Can’t you find a way to streamline this process? It was much easier and far better when all I had to do was login to My Society Security, do what I needed and log out. If it ain’t broke…

kathgee17 · 4 years ago

Works great. Most bad reviews are from people who don't understand OTP.

If you don't understand OTP, don't download this. If you do, this is a great way to manage 2fa without getting locked in to any ecosystem like Authy or Google Authenticator.

Best OTP for mac

I'm really satisfied with last update

NaderRafati · 5 years ago

native mac otp with ios companion app

Even before the 2.0.0 release two days ago, this was my otp app of choice for mac. If I recall correctly, there was no other native free mac otp app out there. With the 2.0.0 revamp, I am very satisfied with the modernized UI and the iOS companion app. I can now use otp manager for both mac and iOS, whereas before I had to use another otp app on iOS. This is everything I want in an OTP app: export/import functions, edit/delete, sync with companion apps. And it's free.

How does this work?

Yea, so, uh. Downloaded and it starts asking for codes that I have no idea where to find or what they're for. How about a little direction on how this works? Deleting immediately.

Finally Figured It Out

Took a while to figure this out…Click on plus sign to add account. Copy website URL into the "Issuer” then put in your username for that website into “username.” The “OTP Shared Secret” is the 2FA code the issuer has given you to authenticate. The code OTP Manager returns back to you goes into the issuer’s query space. Voila. Still clueless about scan codes :-)

huh?

how can i judge when I don’t even know the terminology i.e. ‘tokens'? I am not illiterate -computer or otherwise - but I am not a daily manipulator of my computer or the internet. I just plug along and try to keep up. This sounds very computer know-it-all to me.

How do I use it?

I downloaded and installed this app, but there are no instructions on how to use it. The English used does not sound like a native-speaker wrote it and there are terms in the three fields that are inexplicable. It's not much good if I can't understand it. I gave it two stars because it seems like it might be good, but...

Please explain how this app works..

Used daily

OTP Manager is one of the most simple and easy-to-use HMAC time-based key managers I’ve used on macOS.

Works when you don’t have cell coverage.

This has become indispensible for me to log in to my employer’s web sites from home because I don’t have cell coverage where I live. This kind of app is my only alternative and this one works smoothly and pretty seamlessly. Occaisionally I have to enter a second code because the first one didn’t take even though it was well within the time limit. That could be the web site. Having the new code automatically copied to the clipboard is a handy feature.
